"Wrigleyville", a recent watercolor painting honoring the 2016 Champs
My paintings of cityscapes, lighthouses, Midwest barns, and mountain scenes are captured from initial drawings and draft paintings done on location, and from multiple photographs.
Painting above is "Movie Monsters", has the house from the Alfred Hitchcock film Psycho. It has nine haunting characters from old movies.
My goal in painting is to transform every day locations into "memorable places". I usually visit the location at several times during the day to capture the desired lighting and/or a specific mood. I often start paintings on location, then finish them in the studio. Pictured here is "Glade Creek Grist Mill", in Babcock State Park, West Virginia.
